D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder in the U.S., was founded in 1978 and is a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. It is engaged in the construction and sale of high-quality homes designed principally for the entry-level and first time move-up markets. The Company also provides mortgage financing and title services for homebuyers through its mortgage and title subsidiaries.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the company’s employee relations strategy, policies, and practices to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment with business objectives
  • Direct the intake, investigation, and resolution of complex and high-risk employee relations matters, including performance management, workplace conduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and policy violations
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to HR leadership and senior business leaders on employee relations risks, trends, and recommended actions
  • Partner closely with Legal to manage matters with litigation exposure, agency charges, subpoenas, and outside counsel coordination
  • Implement investigation protocols, documentation standards, and escalation frameworks to ensure defensible and timely outcomes
  • Oversee employee relations metrics, trend analysis, and reporting to identify systemic issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure employee relations practices align with federal, state, and local employment laws across all operating jurisdictions
  • Lead the development and delivery of employee relations training for HR and leadership, including investigations, documentation, and conflict resolution
  • Provide guidance and coaching to Region and Division HR Managers and Coordinators on effective employee relations practices, corrective action, and policy application
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Ability to travel overnight (Up to 15% travel)

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises 2 or more employees

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Labor Relations, or a related field
  • 8+ years of progressive employee relations experience in a complex, multi-state organization, experience in a shared services model strongly preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Demonstrated experience leading investigations and managing high-risk employee relations matters
  • Experience partnering closely with Legal and senior leadership
  • Strong computer skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new programs/systems quickly is essential

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or Juris Doctor (JD) preferred
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent a plus
