Role Description
The Director of Development is a contract role responsible for leading and executing Ballet After Dark’s fundraising and development strategy. This hybrid position is based in Baltimore, MD, with a mix of on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility.
- Planning and managing fundraising campaigns
- Cultivating and stewarding donors
- Oversight of annual and planned giving programs
- Researching and pursuing philanthropic opportunities
- Preparing grant proposals and reports
- Maintaining accurate development records and budgets
- Collaborating with leadership to align fundraising goals with program priorities
- Supporting special events
- Providing regular progress updates on revenue targets and donor engagement
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, including designing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies
- Knowledge of annual giving programs and campaigns, with the ability to manage donor communications and retention efforts
- Experience with planned giving and philanthropy, including cultivating relationships with individual and institutional donors
- Budgeting skills and comfort working with financial reports, revenue goals, and development-related forecasting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling donor materials and grant proposals
- Prior experience in trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and inclusive practices is beneficial
- Commitment to trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and inclusive practices; prior experience in arts, nonprofits, or social services is beneficial
