About the Role

This position is a key member of the Advancement Office responsible for expanding and strengthening a culture of philanthropy across St. Thomas Episcopal Parish School and Church. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), the Director of Development & Engagement will focus on strategic relationship-building, constituency engagement, donor cultivation, stewardship, prospect management, and capital campaign pipeline development. This position is designed to support the long-term philanthropic growth of St. Thomas by intentionally engaging and cultivating constituent groups that have historically been underdeveloped from an advancement perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Through strategic relationship-building, volunteer engagement, tailored communications, stewardship initiatives, and prospect management, help identify, qualify, cultivate, and prepare constituents for deeper philanthropic investment in St. Thomas Episcopal Parish School and Church.
  • Serve as a bridge between engagement and philanthropy, helping ensure that constituents experience meaningful connection to St. Thomas before and as they are invited to consider significant charitable support.
  • Assist in advancing prospective donors through the STEP Forward Capital Campaign pipeline while strengthening stewardship and engagement efforts that lead to sustained philanthropic support.

Qualifications

  • 5–7+ years of fundraising, advancement, donor relations, alumni relations, constituent engagement, or nonprofit development experience, preferably within an independent school, higher education, church, or nonprofit environment.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship-based fundraising, donor cultivation, stewardship, constituent engagement, or major gift support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build authentic relationships and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with prospect research, donor strategy development, fundraising databases, and pipeline management preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management abilities with attention to detail, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a mission-driven environment and support multiple advancement initiatives simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
