Director of Development, Cancer and Health Systems

About the role

The Director of Development is a fundraising professional who works collaboratively with the Senior Executive Director of Development (SrEDOD) for Cancer and UCI Health System Programs and University Advancement (UA) colleagues to lead specific development programs for UCI Health within the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and other departments and divisions that are cancer adjacent, securing significant philanthropic investments to support these areas.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with SrEDOD and UA colleagues to lead specific development programs for UCI Health within the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and other cancer adjacent departments and divisions.
• Secure significant philanthropic investments to support these areas.
• Evaluate effectiveness based on achieving financial goals and meeting metrics.
• Collaborate with other development officers on the Health Advancement team and across the campus.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies.
• Make persuasive and compelling presentations of goals and objectives for UCI Health to secure gifts.
• Develop and implement stewardship plans leading to additional investments.
• Handle multiple projects and meet demanding work schedule expectations.

Requirements

• Advanced knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
• Advanced working knowledge of current issues of concern for UCI Health and higher education / healthcare generally.
• Advanced knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
• Advanced written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen.
• Organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills, including skill in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification / avoidance / resolution, and strong project management skills.
• Confidentiality.
• Skills in preparing complex and detailed proposals and related materials.
• Experience in stewardship plans leading to additional investments.
• Ability to meet demanding work schedule expectations.
• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
• Five years' successful professional development and / fundraising-related experience, preferably in higher education.

• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Pay

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $111,300 - $130,000 (Annual).
