Director of Development, Cancer and Health Systems

About the role

The Director of Development is responsible for leading fundraising efforts for UCI Health within the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and other cancer adjacent departments. This role requires advanced fundraising and donor relations skills, as well as the ability to secure significant philanthropic investments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute fundraising strategies to secure private philanthropic support for UCI Health programs.
• Collaborate with the Senior Executive Director of Development and other development officers to manage specific development programs.
• Secure significant philanthropic investments to support UCI Health programs, particularly those within the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and other cancer adjacent departments.
• Work closely with the Senior Executive Director of Development, Health Advancement team, and across the campus to establish and maintain good working relationships.
• Prepare complex and detailed proposals and related materials to secure gifts and demonstrate the impact of donations.

Requirements

• Advanced knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
• Advanced working knowledge of current issues in higher education and healthcare.
• Advanced knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
• Advanced written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen.
• Ability to make persuasive and compelling presentations to secure gifts.
• Advanced organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills, including skill in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification / avoidance / resolution, and strong project management skills.
• Very strong skills in maintaining confidentiality.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Salesforce or a comparable donor/prospect database system.
• Demonstrable experience in stewardship plans leading to additional investments.
• Clarity of focus while juggling complex projects and/or deadlines.
• Ability to meet demanding work schedule expectations.

Pay

The expected pay range for this role is $111,300 - $130,000 (Annual).
