About the role

Lantana Consulting Group, Inc. provides services and software for standards-based health-information exchange. As a trusted leader with two decades of expertise, we develop and deploy technical specifications and interoperability solutions. This role is the senior contracts leader for our rapidly growing, distributed, employee-owned company, offering flexible remote work arrangements nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the continued development and improvement of Lantana's contracts and compliance function by establishing and enhancing policies, procedures, controls, templates, and other tools.
  • Oversee and administer the full lifecycle of all company contracts and subcontracts, including drafting, reviewing, redlining, negotiating, interpreting, and administering prime contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, non-disclosure agreements, consulting agreements, and other contractual documents with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Own internal contract reviews and independently identify inaccuracies, ambiguous or unfavorable terms, missing or unnecessary clauses and flow-downs, compliance obligations, and legal, financial, operational, project delivery, information security, and other business risks. Resolve issues through clear proposed language and negotiation; escalate only material business decisions or risks that require executive approval.
  • Lead contract negotiations and represent Lantana's interests with all stakeholders, balancing strong advocacy for favorable terms with practical judgment and collaborative, professional relationships.
  • Review federal solicitations to identify contractual requirements, compliance issues, proposal risks, and develop organizational conflict-of-interest (OCI) proposal volumes and mitigation strategies.
  • Lead subcontract solicitations, subcontract negotiations, and contractual aspects of cost and price analyses in coordination with Finance, Business Development, and project leadership.
  • Research and interpret the FAR, agency supplements, statutes, and other applicable regulations, including unfamiliar or evolving requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory changes; assess their effect on Lantana's contracts, compliance obligations, and business processes; and translate them into practical updates, guidance, and implementation actions.
  • Serve as the company's compliance lead by overseeing the compliance program; ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and contractual requirements; and developing and delivering training and guidance to management and staff.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the Contracts Administrator and contracts staff through clear direction, constructive feedback, knowledge sharing, and progressive delegation while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day execution of complex and high-volume contract work.
  • Collaborate as a trusted team member with Executive Leadership, Business Development, Finance, Human Resources, Project Management, IT and Security, and Technical Teams to understand business and delivery implications, obtain subject-matter input, support informed decisions, and strengthen contract administration and compliance across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible contracts experience while employed by a federal-government contractor (prime or subcontractor). The required experience must have been obtained primarily while employed by a federal-government contractor specifically (rather than a federal, state, or local government agency).
  • At least five (5) years of recent, substantial hands-on experience drafting, reviewing, redlining, negotiating, and administering complex federal contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and other business agreements with a federal-government contractor.
  • At least three (3) years of experience leading a contracts function and supervising contracts professionals.
  • Experience with GSA Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full lifecycle of federal prime contracts and subcontracts, including Firm-Fixed-Price, Time-and-Materials, and Cost-Reimbursable agreements as well as teaming agreements, nondisclosure agreements, consulting agreements, and related business documents.
  • Extensive knowledge of the FAR and applicable agency supplements, including assessing clause applicability and flow-down requirements, identifying missing or unnecessary provisions, reviewing solicitations and OCI requirements, and evaluating contractual and compliance risk.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently perform comprehensive, detail-intensive reviews of a high volume of complex agreements and identify and resolve business risks while maintaining exceptional accuracy, organization, responsiveness, and follow-through.
  • Exceptional business judgment and analytical, drafting, critical-thinking, and negotiation skills, including the ability to achieve favorable outcomes through collaborative negotiations.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to explain complex issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Intellectual curiosity, initiative, and strong organizational skills, including the ability to research unfamiliar issues, assess the implications of regulatory changes, and translate requirements into practical process improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and develop contracts professionals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and/or Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Contracts experience supporting a small or mid-sized federal-government contractor.
  • Professional certification for contracts, such as Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), or Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM).
  • Knowledge of employment law, corporate governance, intellectual property, data rights, software licensing, privacy, information security, insurance, and commercial legal concepts relevant to government contracting.
