Elite Executive Solutions has been retained to conduct a confidential search on behalf of a well-established, highly respected general contractor with a strong presence throughout the New York metropolitan area. Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Director of Construction to provide operational leadership, mentorship, and strategic support across its construction management team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to Project Managers and construction leadership teams.
• Support Project Managers throughout the lifecycle of their projects by helping resolve operational challenges and identifying solutions.
• Promote consistency in project planning, execution, reporting, and communication across the organization.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to improve construction operations, processes, and overall project delivery.
• Assist with staffing, workload balancing, and resource planning across multiple active projects.
• Review project schedules, budgets, and operational performance to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Help mitigate project risks by providing strategic guidance and operational support.
• Foster strong collaboration between operations, preconstruction, estimating, and executive leadership.
• Promote a culture centered on safety, accountability, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Support the professional development and coaching of Project Managers while helping establish best practices across the organization.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design professionals, subcontractors, and key industry partners.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive commercial construction experience with significant leadership responsibility.
• Demonstrated success leading, mentoring, and developing Project Managers and construction teams.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction operations, scheduling, budgeting, contracts, and project delivery.
• Proven ability to solve complex operational challenges while supporting multiple project teams.
• Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
• Ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organization.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline is preferred.
