Director of Community Living – Exempt position with a pay range of $75,000-$85,000.

The Arc Baltimore supports people with developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling lives with a sense of belonging, purpose, and meaningful relationships. Since 1949, we have been an indispensable resource, providing employment training and support, day and residential services, family support and education, treatment foster care, assistive technology services, respite care, public policy advocacy, and information and referrals. Our full and part-time employees deliver services in people's homes, places of employment, day centers, and neighborhoods.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direct supervision of mid-level managers and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, person-centered services that foster community inclusion, meaningful relationships, and positive outcomes.
- Conduct and document monthly supervision meetings with assigned staff to provide coaching, performance feedback, professional development, and support while promoting employee engagement.
- Partner with internal departments (Human Resources, Operations, Finance, and other stakeholders) to ensure coordinated service delivery and support people receiving services in achieving their employment and person-centered goals.
- Serve as a 24/7 on-call leader, responding to emergencies, staffing challenges, and operational issues to ensure continuity of services for the health and safety of people supported.
- Conduct monthly follow-up home inspections to verify corrective actions and ensure homes comply with agency standards, safety regulations, and operational expectations.
- Review and analyze operational reports, expenditures, and performance data monthly to ensure accuracy, identify trends and risks, improve service quality, maintain compliance, and support fiscal management. Make recommendations to improve service quality, mitigate risks, and achieve cost savings.
- Actively participate in assigned job-related meetings to support effective communication, collaboration, strategic initiatives, and organizational goals.
- Provide support, training, and guidance to mid-level managers in their areas of responsibility. Foster professional growth through mentoring, succession planning, and leadership development opportunities.
- Participate in agency committees, cross-functional workgroups, and specialized training.
- Build and sustain collaborative partnerships with internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Model exceptional professionalism, integrity, and ethical leadership while reinforcing the agency’s mission, vision, and values.
- Implement efficient fiscal processes and procedures. Monitor departmental budget for spending and compliance.
- Oversee and approve all time-keeping records and monitor overtime for staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required. Five years of supervisory experience in DDA may substitute for a degree, plus 3-5 years of leadership or managing residential programs.
- At least 7-8 years of experience in residential living services for people with developmental disabilities.
- 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
