Our team is made up of people who care deeply about pets, their parents, and each other. We strive for an inclusive work culture that supports a diverse array of skills, experiences, and perspectives, celebrating differences as a source of strength.

About the role

The Director of Commercial Analytics & Insights owns the Company's sales, category, and commercial analytics function end-to-end, from the underlying data and reporting infrastructure through to the insight and recommendation delivered to leadership. This role is the Analytics Department, setting the analytical agenda, building tools and reporting, and delivering analysis that drives commercial and financial decision-making. The Director reports to the Chief Financial Officer and partners closely with the Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Marketing Officer, interacting with all stakeholders throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the commercial analytics function including syndicated data analysis, sales and category reporting, business intelligence tools, and the analytical support behind pricing, promotion, assortment, and innovation decisions.
  • Serve as the Company subject matter expert on syndicated and retailer data, including SPINS, NIQ, Stackline, retailer portals, and distributor data, analyzing category, brand, channel, customer, and competitive performance to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Team to build the sell-in story, translating data into customer-facing category reviews, distribution and assortment recommendations, shelf and merchandising proposals, and promotional plans.
  • Own Power BI, Bedrock Analytics, and ReSight (distributor data aggregator) as the Company superuser, including licensing, user permissions, integration of data sources, and the build and ongoing maintenance of all dashboards.
  • Support the development and maintenance of weekly and monthly flash reporting, KPIs, and scorecards for the Senior Leadership Team and the commercial team.
  • Build and maintain a self-service reporting toolkit (dashboards, standard reports, and supporting documentation) that enables Sales, Marketing, Finance, and leadership to answer routine business questions without an analyst in the loop, driving adoption through training, office hours, and ongoing refinement.
  • Deliver ad-hoc analysis and modeling for executive leadership and cross-functional partners, prioritizing effectively against competing requests.
  • Support innovation by building initial unit and volume forecasts and supporting margin analysis.
  • Support the Sales Team in the annual budget and forecasting processes with volume, channel, and customer-level builds.
  • Present analysis, findings, and recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team as required.
  • Apply AI tools to compress analysis cycle time and extend the capacity of a one-person function, including automating recurring reporting, drafting narrative summaries of results, and accelerating data preparation and exploration.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging tools and bring forward opportunities to automate manual work.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the Sales, Marketing, and Finance teams and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in sales analytics, category management, commercial analytics, revenue growth management, or insights.
  • Demonstrated experience as a hands-on individual contributor who has personally built the reporting, models, and analysis.
  • Experience in the CPG industry is required; pet, natural, or food and beverage experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting national retail and distributor customers across pet specialty, mass, grocery, natural, and e-commerce channels.
  • Experience in a Private Equity Sponsored business is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Analytics, or a related field.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of syndicated and retailer point-of-sale data, including SPINS, NIQ, retailer portals, and distributor data.
  • Advanced Excel capability, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and work with large data sets; SQL or comparable query experience is a plus.
  • Advanced Power BI capability, including data modeling and the design and maintenance of dashboards.
  • Aptitude and desire to use AI tools in an analytics context, including LLM-based analysis and drafting, AI features within Power BI and Excel, and automation of recurring reporting.
  • Ability to translate complex data into a clear, commercially actionable story and recommendation for both executive and customer-facing audiences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-directed and hands-on; this role is the department and requires an individual who knows what to do, how to do it, and is willing to do the work personally.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of competing requests from multiple executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence and build alignment across Sales, Marketing, and Finance without direct authority.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and PowerPoint.
  • Love for animals and a passion for their health.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% or more of the time.
