Job Summary

The Director of Clinical Programs is a mission-driven leader who shapes the vision, quality, and impact of behavioral health and substance use services within The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division. This role offers the opportunity to lead meaningful, life-changing work by overseeing a diverse portfolio of clinical programs designed to support individuals on their path to recovery.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Supervise the approved program budget and assist in preparing the recommended annual budget as requested.

  • Provide supervision and support to clinical and administrative staff, including direction, training, support, affirmation, discipline, and evaluation.

  • Directly supervise all Harbor Light clinical programs including: The Outpatient Department, Intensive Rehabilitation Unit Supervisor, Minority Addictions Treatment Program Supervisor, Recovery Home, Intake Supervisor, and the Office Manager.

  • Ensure full utilization of electronic systems across all staff (Next Step).

  • Oversee billing function for Clinical Services.

  • Coordinate service with Lawndale Christian Health Center.

  • Affirm CARF standards in all Clinical programs.

  • Review case files for compliance with applicable DASA standards and agency policies.

  • Maintain and update operating procedures, treatment/rehabilitation modalities, record keeping methods, and other related activities in accordance with licensing standards and existing state and federal regulations.

  • Monitor program functions for licensure compliance and share results with the Executive Director.

  • Coordinate program-wide preparation for all internal and external program audits and reviews.

  • Study client satisfaction surveys and update programs as appropriate to meet client needs.

  • Maintain an active interest and involvement in the substance abuse and mental health field; participate in relevant groups, seminars, and conferences.

  • Assess and update all program curriculum, including groups, and maintain a written curriculum for all programs.

  • Lead the team at the Review Board; participate on Management Team, Quality Care Planning Committee, Advisory Council, Admin Team, Strategic Planning Committee, and other groups as requested by the Executive Director.

  • Explore and develop program development and funding options with the lead of the Executive Director.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Education: Graduate degree from an accredited school of Social Work or Psychology with an LCSW, LCPC, or CADC.

  • Experience: At least eight years of experience in social work field, including a minimum of three years of supervisory and/or administrative responsibility in a substance abuse/psychiatric setting.
