Director of Choral Activities and Tenure Line Assistant/Associate/Professor Appointment in the School of Music

Duties
- Conduct the University of Utah Chamber Singers and A Capella Choir
- Develop and maintain a national/international reputation as a choral conductor
- Administer the School of Music Choral Program, including overseeing graduate teaching assistant conductors
- Teach conducting courses
- Serve as advisor for graduate conducting students
- Participate in curriculum development efforts in the Conducting Area, including undergraduate- and graduate-level conducting and literature courses
- Collaborate with faculty in the choral, music education, voice, and opera areas to oversee and distribute resources in these areas
- Actively recruit undergraduate and graduate students to The University of Utah in both on campus and off campus events
- Provide leadership and coordination for undergraduate and graduate student recruitment efforts in the choral and voice areas
- Build and maintain productive relationships with local and regional school and community choral directors and singers
- Engage with current choral program curricula and ensembles while developing new opportunities for broader choral opportunities in the School of Music
- Perform administrative duties and serve on committees as assigned
Qualifications
- An earned doctorate in music is required
- Demonstrated potential for a distinguished career as a conductor at national and international levels
- Demonstrated achievement as a choral conductor at the university level
- Experience performing repertory that enriches the cultural, artistic, and aesthetic range of performance experiences to which students are exposed
- Experience in teaching conducting courses at the university level
- Demonstrated ability to work closely in collaboration with applied faculty and other conducting colleagues
- Experience engaging with secondary school choral students
