Surrounded by cattle ranches and agriculture, Memorial Baptist Church is a diversified and grace-driven church. God has blessed us with several young families. We are prayerfully seeking an experienced individual with a clear calling to minister to children.
About the Role
The Children’s Ministry Director at Memorial Baptist Church exists to fulfill the Great Commission by making disciples of our children (nursery through 5th grade) and effectively overseeing and delegating ministry avenues to adults. God’s Word will be the primary motivator and educational tool. The director reports directly to the Pastor and the church.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead the Wednesday evening children’s ministry.
- Recruit and develop teachers with prayerful consideration.
- Effectively communicate with parents and the church about ministry activities.
- Organize special events to promote the ministry.
- Choose and administer age-appropriate curriculum.
- Build a culture of engagement, discipleship, and missions.
- Resolve conflicts involving children and/or their parents.
- Oversee Sunday morning children’s ministries, including:
- Coordinate nursery staffing for Sunday School, morning worship, and Wednesday evenings.
- Ensure the nursery is safe (clean, appropriate toys, and trained workers).
- Organize Children’s Church with a rotation of equipped workers and curriculum.
- Lead and organize an annual kids’ outreach.
- Develop, initiate, and maintain a Sunday School ministry, including:
- Provide initial and ongoing training for all teachers.
- Equip workers with relevant safety training.
- Maintain the established screening process (questionnaire, background checks, and interviews).
- Maintain the Children’s Ministry tab on MBC’s website.
- Promote the entire MBC Children’s Ministry to the community.
- Establish regular office hours (12 hours per week).
- Manage the Children’s Ministry budget.
Requirements
- Display a vibrant relationship with Christ.
- Wholeheartedly agree with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
- Proven track record of working, leading, and organizing a children’s ministry.
- Strong desire to see children become disciples of Christ.
- High proficiency in organization and communication.
- Capable of effectively communicating with children.
- Able to discern and equip current and future teachers.
