Director of Child Support Services
About the Role
Under general direction, this position plans, organizes, manages, and supervises a variety of programs, services, and functions of the Health Services Department. Responsibilities include assisting with the development and administration of program budgets and grants, supervising and evaluating assigned staff, and developing and evaluating programs and services, including those mandated by the State. The role involves establishing policies and goals for assigned programs within the department’s framework, collaborating with other management staff to meet agency goals, and serving as a liaison with community, regional, or State agencies.
This is a unique, management-level classification that assists the Health Services Director with overall departmental management and administration. The incumbent may serve as the Health Services Director in their absence and works at the pleasure of the appointing authority, meaning employment is at-will.
Supervision
Receives administrative direction from the Health Services Director. Manages professional, technical, administrative support, and extra-help staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in health administration, public administration, public health, nursing, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- At least four (4) years of full-time professional experience in public health, human services, or a directly related field, including evaluating, administering, and controlling complex programs.
- At least three (3) years of high-level administrative or management experience in areas such as personnel, fiscal management, or staff development.
Additional directly related experience and/or education may be substituted at a 2:1 ratio to fulfill minimum qualifications.
