Director of Campus Operations, 2 Hour Learning - $200,000/year USD
About the role
You walk into a building and immediately notice what doesn't belong — the ceiling tile hanging loose without a work order, the HVAC unit making noise for days, the landscaping contractor who delivered half the scope but submitted a complete invoice. You don't wait for a parent to raise it. You fix it before it registers as a problem. That mindset defines this role.
Responsibilities
- Running scheduled on-site inspections across Northwest campuses using documented benchmarks for cleanliness, HVAC performance, safety protocols, security systems, signage, landscaping, furniture condition, and presentation readiness — then ensuring findings convert to confirmed corrective action
- Managing facilities emergencies and service requests, coordinating vendor response, and marking tickets complete only after confirmed resolution (urgent within 24 hours, standard within 1 week)
- Holding local vendors to SLA commitments, removing repeat non-performers, renegotiating contracts, and conducting direct accountability discussions on both quality and budget
- Establishing a consistent weekly operating cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to ensure each location follows standardized routines instead of ad hoc responses
- Overseeing significant campus improvement projects (HVAC replacements, interior updates, landscaping overhauls, AV/network installations) while staying on timeline and budget with minimal student disruption
- Documenting enterprise-wide standards and AI-supported procurement frameworks (leveraging ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance tools, and centralized vendor sourcing) to ensure uniform campus launch and operation
- Delivering concise weekly written summaries covering regional quality metrics, vendor accountability, escalations, and capital expenditure tracking
Requirements
- Located in the San Francisco Bay Area (strongly preferred) — or elsewhere within the Northwest region: CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, or ID — prepared to work primarily from the Bay Area campus with 30–50% regional travel
- Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
- 5+ years managing multi-site facilities, regional operations, hospitality operations, retail operations, or school operations
- Documented success holding vendor-managed services accountable for quality standards, cost controls, and SLA performance across multiple sites
- Consistent written operational discipline: issue tracking, escalation documentation, vendor correspondence, weekly regional quality summaries
- Demonstrated proficiency with current operations technology (ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance systems, AI-assisted procurement or planning tools)

- Prominent experience removing underperforming vendors and developing a reliable local vendor network
- Proven experience managing capital improvement projects (HVAC systems, AV/network infrastructure, landscaping, interior renovations) in active, customer-facing facilities
- Familiarity operating in an AI-first environment where automated playbooks, dashboards, and predictive systems handle routine tasks so staff concentrate on decision-making
