Director of Business Development - Inpatient Rehabilitation

About the role

The Director of Business Development serves as a mentor to the admissions team and plays a key role in developing and growing their staff. This position develops and executes business development strategies, establishes and monitors results-producing relationships with referring physicians, case managers, social workers, and payers. The role educates team members and referral sources about the hospital's physical medicine and rehabilitation service capabilities, industry changes, clinical programs, clinical outcomes, and appropriate patient referrals/admissions. Provides leadership and oversight to the clinical liaison team as well as the admissions team and reports directly to the hospital CEO.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute business development strategies.
• Establish and monitor relationships with referring physicians, case managers, social workers, and payers to produce results.
• Educate team members and referral sources about the hospital's rehabilitation services, industry changes, clinical programs, outcomes, and appropriate patient referrals/admissions.
• Provide leadership and oversight to the clinical liaison and admissions teams.
• Analyze business development opportunities and work in a self-directed environment.
• Collaborate with marketing and nurse liaison teams to achieve established referral goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum of five years progressive experience in healthcare sales and marketing.
• Knowledge of managed care and physical rehabilitation.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and in a self-directed environment.

Qualifications

• Clinical background as a Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, or Occupational Therapist strongly preferred.
