About the Team

LumApps is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Director of Business Development to lead our BDR organization from Austin, TX. In this leadership position, you will be responsible for architecting and scaling a world-class business development engine. You will assess and upgrade high-performance routines, team capability and engagement along with strategic initiatives required to deliver a consistent, high-quality pipeline for our Enterprise and Middle Market sales teams. As a coach, operator and strategist, you will drive operational excellence and ensure our team is equipped to exceed growth targets at an exciting time in LumApps evolution.

Strategic Leadership

  • Establish and institutionalize high-productivity daily routines and rigorous sales cadences across the BDR team to ensure consistent activity and output.
  • Drive full adoption and mastery of the sales tech stack (CRM, engagement tools, and intelligence platforms), ensuring data integrity and maximized ROI from our tools.
  • Develop and execute outbound strategies specifically tailored to generate a high-quality, viable pipeline for Enterprise and Middle Market accounts.
  • Collaborate with Sales Leadership to align BDR prospecting efforts with regional revenue goals and territory plans.
  • Partner with Marketing to execute Field Marketing strategies that convert to meaningful leads.
  • Optimize lead routing and qualification frameworks to improve conversion rates and hand-off efficiency to Account Executives.
  • Establish and analyze productivity metrics and pipeline health to provide actionable insights to executive leadership.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and customer engagement.
  • Hire, onboard, and coach BDRs to consistently achieve and exceed monthly pipeline and meeting targets.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, call coaching sessions, and performance reviews.
  • Assist with onboarding new team members and organize training sessions on tools and processes.
  • Nurture team motivation and well-being.

Operational Execution & Reporting

  • Oversee daily BDR operations, ensuring effective lead follow-up and qualification.
  • Monitor BDR productivity metrics (e.g., activity levels, conversion rates, meeting quality) to improve outcomes.
  • Partner with Sales Leadership and RevOps to build clear dashboards, reports, and KPIs.
  • Orchestrate quarterly QBRs.
  • Define and manage to specific SLA (Service Level Agreement) targets between BDRs and Sales to ensure seamless hand-off efficiency and pipeline quality.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in B2B SaaS sales or business development, with 3+ years leading BDR/SDR teams.
  • Proven track record of building, scaling, and optimizing high-performing BDR organizations in a high-growth environment.
  • Demonstrated success generating net-new enterprise and middle-market pipeline through strategic outbound prospecting.
  • Strong analytical and operational mindset, with experience using KPIs, pipeline metrics, and performance data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Deep familiarity with modern sales technology and GTM systems, including CRM, sales engagement, conversation intelligence, and account intelligence platforms.
  • Exceptional coaching, talent development, and people leadership skills, with a track record of building accountable, high-performing teams.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, RevOps, and Enablement to drive pipeline and revenue outcomes.
