Director of Business Development
Position Overview
The Director of Business Development is a key strategic role responsible for driving new revenue growth across North America. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, this leader will build and maintain high-impact relationships with both existing and prospective customers to identify new opportunities and implement growth strategies. This position plays a critical role in supporting the company's growth plans by presenting end-to-end manufacturing solutions to potential customers.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Market Expansion — Develop and execute market strategies that align with the company's capabilities and emerging industry trends. Identify new business opportunities, communicate them across the organization, and lead seamless implementation to deliver measurable results.
- Consultative Selling & Opportunity Development — Utilize a solution-based sales approach to expand business within existing accounts and secure new customer relationships. Collaborate across value streams and cross-functional teams to execute customer and category opportunity plans.
- Revenue & Target Ownership — Set, manage, and exceed sales and project goals aligned with strategic growth objectives. Deliver against revenue targets, product expansion initiatives, and position the organization as a preferred partner in the Class II and III medical device market.
- Cross-functional Leadership — Partner closely with Product Development, Engineering, Project Management, Sales, and Marketing teams to ensure successful product launches and customer satisfaction. Support launch readiness and post-launch execution through strong cross-functional collaboration.
- Industry Representation & Customer Relations — Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, industry groups, and medical device OEMs. Establish trust and position the company as a preferred contract manufacturing partner.
- Leadership Team Engagement — Participate in strategic planning and organizational growth initiatives as part of the broader leadership team. Collaborate with executive leadership, General Managers, and Business Unit Leaders to develop and execute long-term commercial strategies.
- Performance & Accountability — Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reporting. Provide competitive market intelligence and regular performance updates to senior leadership. Drive measurable business results while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive business development experience within medical device contract manufacturing.
- Strong experience supporting Class II and Class III single-use and electromechanical medical devices.
- Deep understanding of the medical device manufacturing ecosystem, including: injection molding, medical extrusion, design and engineering services, and complex assembly.
- Proven success selling to large medical device OEMs and/or pharmaceutical companies.
- Established relationships with senior-level decision-makers across the medical device industry.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, consultative sales leader with a proven history of generating new business within the medical device contract manufacturing industry. They possess a strong network of OEM decision-makers, understand the complexities of regulated medical manufacturing, and have experience selling high-value manufacturing solutions involving injection molding, extrusion, engineering services, and complex assembly.
Location & Travel
Must reside in California (San Diego area preferred). Ability to travel extensively to customer locations, manufacturing facilities, and industry conferences throughout North America.
