About the role
The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a Director of Athletics in our Athletics Department.
Responsibilities
- Supervises, evaluates, and supports athletic department personnel, including coaching staff, and participates in recruitment and hiring processes.
- Maintains compliance with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) requirements and standards.
- Develops a schedule (day, time, location) of athletic events and practices.
- Collaborates with the Dean in implementing annual plans for improving the quality of program offerings and services.
- Sustains ongoing professional development of staff.
- Supports recruitment efforts with colleges and high schools, as appropriate.
- Collaborates with other areas across the College in the interest of supporting student athlete success.
- Develops the program budgets.
- Assists with ordering equipment and supplies within budget guidelines.
- Participates in the planning and fulfillment of the Athletic Department’s Strategic Plan.
- Affords support for college-wide events such as, but not limited to, commencement ceremonies, open houses, and orientations and assists with the coordination of athletic events.
- Collaborates with Institutional Advancement on Athletic Department fundraising events.
- Promotes athletic programs through community outreach, social media, recruitment, event promotion, and collaboration with marketing and communications staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in sports management, physical education, higher education, or related field
- Experience in collegiate athletics administration, coaching, teaching, or related leadership roles
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining high academic standards for student athletes
- Ability to manage coaches in a variety of responsibilities and circumstances
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed
- Valid driver’s license
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (preferred)
- NJCAA experience (preferred)
- Athletic facility management experience (preferred)
- Budget management experience (preferred)

Pay
$75,500
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm. Must have the ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
