About the role
The Director of Anatomic Pathology at Emory University School of Medicine’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine oversees the clinical quality, faculty development, educational excellence, and program innovation across the division. This role is central to shaping the future of anatomic pathology at Grady and fostering a strong academic culture.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and academic leadership for Anatomic Pathology, advancing excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and support faculty, promoting professional development, academic engagement, and a shared commitment to high-quality diagnostic services, education, and scholarship.
- Ensure high clinical standards through collaboration with the CLIA director and oversight of quality, compliance, and laboratory partnerships across histology, immunohistochemistry, and gross room operations.
- Strengthen educational and training programs, ensuring outstanding instruction and mentorship of medical students, pathology residents, and fellows.
- Champion innovation, including digital pathology adoption and data-driven quality initiatives aligned with departmental and institutional priorities.
Qualifications
- Hold an MD or MD/PhD;
- Be board-certified in Anatomic Pathology;
- Be eligible for medical licensure in Georgia;
- Have 3–5 years of experience in general surgical pathology and/or subspecialty practice;
- Demonstrated leadership skills are preferred.
