About the role
The Business Manager (EA-BUSM-IUEAA) at Indiana University East is responsible for directing, monitoring, and managing the daily operations of departments within the campus. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, creating and improving business practices, and leading various departments.
Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and university policies/procedures.
- Creates and improves related business practices and procedures and implements and monitors internal controls.
- Serves as an actively engaged thought leader for Administration and Finance and demonstrates the guiding principles of the organization through appropriate communication and actions.
- Performs administrative responsibilities.
- Collaborates with the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance and other senior administrators on developing and implementing strategies that reflect the mission, vision, and values of IU East.
- Serves as an integral part of the campus Senior Leadership Team, responsible for developing and initiating appropriate business and support sections of the campus strategic plan and processes.
- Serves as fiscal approver for staff and academic electronic documents; serve as resource and decision maker in all issues involving payroll compliance and adherence to university Financial Management System (FMS)-Payroll policies; provide guidance to staff in the areas of data security and record maintenance.
- Leads all departments located in the campus Athletics, General Administration, Finance, Food Service and Physical Plant responsibility centers in the absence of the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance.
- Serves as the campus liaison to the Office of Research Administration.
- Manages and approves financial transactions on IU Foundation accounts and ensures adherence to foundation policies and donor intent.
Requirements
- Required Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field.
- Preferred Master's degree.
- 4 years related functional experience.
- 1 year of management experience.

- Ability to understand and interpret financial policies, regulations, and pertinent state/federal laws.
- Advanced knowledge of financial statements and different budgetary models; ability to apply in different situations.
- Demonstrates the ability to create workable solutions from broad concepts and ideas, projections, forecasting, and long term planning.
- The ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment.
