Director of Accounting Services

Position Details

Position Purpose
Oversee and manage the Central Accounting functions of the University including financial system management, preparation of audited financial statements, and tax compliance.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Financial reporting
• Oversight of financial statement preparation and coordination with the external audit firm
• Training the entire campus on financial reporting and compliance
• Managing the federal single audit and NCAA agreed-upon procedures
• Negotiating Federal fringe benefit rates annually
• Managing banking relationships and overseeing transaction processes such as positive pay, cash management, ACH, wires, etc.
• Providing oversight and guidance to business units on campus through the Financial Performance Review committee
• Serving as a senior financial expert and advisor to leadership and the campus community

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
• A minimum of six (6) years of professional accounting experience, plus two (2) years of supervisory/management experience
• Proficiency with personal computers, spreadsheet software applications, and enterprise wide automated financial systems
• Experience with and an aptitude for advanced technical systems and reporting
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with others

Desired Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field
• Professional certification (e.g. C.M.A., C.P.A.)
• Database management experience
• Banner experience
• Higher education experience, Tax research and preparation experience
• Strong technical ability and experience
