Director of Accounting

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, audit coordination, and internal controls within a growing financial services organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Oversee general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Manage external audits and support regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting procedures.
• Research and evaluate complex accounting matters, contracts, and business transactions.
• Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members while fostering a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and/or audit experience.
• Prior experience within financial services, leasing, lending, or related industries preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and close processes.
• Experience managing audits and preparing financial statements.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
