We are seeking a Controller to lead all accounting and financial reporting functions, with a critical focus on Medicare reporting and regulatory compliance within a healthcare environment.

About the role

This role requires a strong technical foundation and the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on. The ideal candidate will bring deep healthcare accounting expertise and a thorough understanding of reimbursement and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
  • Lead and manage Medicare and cost reporting processes, ensuring full regulatory compliance
  • Manage multi-entity consolidations and intercompany transactions
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and healthcare-specific regulatory requirements
  • Cook up and enhance internal controls and accounting policies
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process
  • Partner with leadership on financial performance, budgeting, and operational insights
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the accounting team

Requirements

  • CPA required
  • Healthcare industry experience required (hospital, health system, rehabilitation, post-acute, or similar)
  • Direct experience with Medicare reporting and/or cost reports
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, consolidations, and audit
  • Pioneering ability to lead while remaining hands-on
  • Experience in a multi-entity or complex organizational structure

Qualifications

  • Current Controller or Assistant Controller within a healthcare organization
  • Accounting leader with deep experience in Medicare reimbursement and reporting
  • CPA with healthcare-focused public accounting experience and exposure to cost reporting

The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical skills and soft skills, including:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Benefits
