The Director, Merchandising Operations leads the development and execution of strategic business plans to optimize inventory management, financial performance, and operational efficiency. About the team
The Wireless Operations team at Walmart leads the execution of wireless activations across stores and online, collaborating with national carriers, service providers, and internal partners. This team focuses on delivering a seamless activation experience by managing performance, resolving operational challenges, and supporting store teams with tools and training. They drive strategic initiatives to enhance Walmart’s custom activation platform, ensuring operational excellence at the intersection of retail, wireless, and technology.
Responsibilities
- Manage inventory plans by analyzing projections, monitoring performance, and approving markdown strategies to optimize financial outcomes.
- Oversee third-party vendor relationships, ensuring contract compliance, operational efficiency, and budget adherence.
- Lead execution of business plans by identifying needs, removing obstacles, and aligning resources to meet performance standards.
- Develop and implement merchandising programs and communication initiatives that support store operations and corporate objectives.
- Analyze business objectives and forecasts to inform strategic planning and resource allocation.
- Foster talent development through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning to build a skilled workforce.
- Promote integrity and compliance by modeling company values and maintaining ethical standards.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in merchandising and operations management with strong leadership capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience in financial planning, forecasting, and managing profit and loss responsibilities.
- Ability to develop and execute business strategies aligned with organizational goals and customer needs.
- Skilled in project management, driving cross-functional initiatives, and removing operational barriers.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and operational performance oversight.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret business trends and develop actionable inventory and markdown plans.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Merchandising, or related field and 5 years’ experience in business management, merchandising, or related area OR 7 years’ experience in business management, merchandising, or related area.
- 1 year’s supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
- Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and stock for certain positions.
