Director, Maintenance

About the role

The Director of Maintenance (DOM) serves as the FAA-designated Director of Maintenance under 14 CFR Part 119 and is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, regulatory compliance, operational reliability, and financial stewardship of GlobalX's aircraft maintenance organization. This leadership role provides strategic direction and oversight for a 24-hour, 7-day-per-week maintenance operation supporting GlobalX's scheduled, charter, government, and ad hoc flight operations.

The Director ensures the continued airworthiness, safety, reliability, and operational readiness of the fleet while maintaining full compliance with FAA regulations, approved maintenance programs, manufacturer requirements, Operations Specifications, and company policies. The Director leads all maintenance functions, including Line Maintenance, Heavy Maintenance, Maintenance Control, Maintenance Planning, Engineering coordination, Technical Records, Reliability Programs, Continuous Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS), and Contract Maintenance.

This position works collaboratively with Flight Operations, Operations Control Center (OCC), Safety, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Finance, and third-party maintenance providers to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient operations while fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory Compliance & Airworthiness: Serve as the FAA-designated Director of Maintenance in accordance with 14 CFR Part 119, ensure full compliance with all applicable FAA regulations, and maintain oversight of the General Maintenance Manual (GMM), approved maintenance programs, and Operations Specifications.
• Operational Leadership: Provide leadership for GlobalX's continuous 24/7 maintenance organization, direct all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance activities, and ensure leadership coverage and effective escalation procedures during nights, weekends, holidays, Aircraft-on-Ground (AOG) events, and irregular operations.
• Fleet Reliability & Maintenance Programs: Develop and execute long-term maintenance strategies to maximize aircraft reliability, safety, and lifecycle performance, lead fleet reliability initiatives, and monitor maintenance trends to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Financial & Strategic Leadership: Develop, manage, and monitor departmental operating and capital budgets, establish performance metrics and executive dashboards, and lead continuous improvement initiatives, process optimization, and digital transformation efforts.
• Leadership & People Development: Recruit, develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing maintenance organization, establish workforce strategies, and foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, operational excellence, and employee engagement.
• Safety & Collaboration: Champion a proactive safety culture, encourage employee participation in safety reporting, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate closely with other departments and external maintenance providers.

Qualifications

• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive aircraft maintenance experience
• Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance leadership experience within a Part 121 air carrier
• Extensive knowledge of FAA regulations, including Parts 43, 65, 91, 119, 121, and 145
• Demonstrated experience managing aircraft maintenance programs, FAA audits, regulatory compliance, maintenance budgets, vendor relationships, and fleet reliability initiatives
• Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, Airbus fleet maintenance experience, and experience supporting aging aircraft reliability programs, engineering coordination, and predictive maintenance initiatives.

Work Environment

This position operates in both office and aircraft maintenance environments and requires availability to support a 24-hour, seven-day-per-week maintenance organization. The Director of Maintenance must be available to respond to operational disruptions, regulatory matters, Aircraft-on-Ground (AOG) events, and other critical maintenance issues as business needs require. Periodic travel is required.
