Director-Laboratory

About the role

The Laboratory Director provides oversight and leadership to both hospital and clinical laboratory departments and operations. The role delivers innovative leadership to maximize the entity’s contribution to overall corporation performance through effective planning and alignment with human and financial goals. Responsibilities include 24/7 oversight of laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, submit, and manage the budget for assigned departments.
• Supervise staff and ensure compliance with all policies.
• Ensure adequate staffing in each department.
• Oversee scheduling and daily operations.
• Monitor patient satisfaction and implement plans for improvement.
• Implement and assess a comprehensive quality assurance program to meet regulatory agency requirements, including safety and infection control guidelines.
• Develop and maintain operational plans for laboratory instruments and management of departmental documentation to meet the College of American Pathology (CAP) requirements.
• Plan, implement, and market services that meet the needs of identified internal and external customers through evaluation and assessment of customer needs and expectations, resulting in development of improvement plans with measurable goals to enhance services.
• Provide leadership by facilitating Baptist vision and values through personal example and interaction with staff to communicate policies and goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 3–5 or more years of laboratory supervisory experience with demonstrated abilities to direct team activities and use basic business applications.
• Education: Minimum required—Bachelor’s Degree; preferred/desired—Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Health Care Administration.
• Licensure: Minimum required—ASCP.
