About the role
An experienced leader who manages technical activities and team(s) of engineers, architects, related professionals, and support personnel. This Director has proven themselves as a highly competent technical engineer with a sense of vision, teamwork, and responsibility. Manages, coaches, and leads the efforts of technical staff in project management and production support.
Responsibilities
- Develops and leads the implementation of a comprehensive infrastructure services strategy, ensuring service availability, performance, security, and alignment with business objectives.
- Leads, motivates, and develops a high-performing infrastructure services team, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and talent development.
- Drives innovation in infrastructure services by evaluating and implementing new technologies (e.g., cloud, automation) to improve efficiency, scalability, and security.
- Provides strategic guidance and direction to IT leadership.
- Makes strategic decisions on infrastructure services strategy, resource allocation, budget management, and technology adoption, aligning with business goals and IT objectives.
- Regularly interacts with senior business stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure alignment with infrastructure services strategy.
- Develops and manages the infrastructure services budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost optimization in line with strategic goals.
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships with key infrastructure vendors, overseeing vendor selection, contract negotiation, and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Identifies, assesses, and mitigates risks associated with infrastructure services, ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery.
- Maintains clear and consistent communication with stakeholders (business partners, senior leadership, team members) regarding infrastructure services strategy, performance, and initiatives.
- Focuses on both tactical and strategic near-term priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field/experience required.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering and operations, with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a leadership role managing infrastructure services teams.
- Experience with IBM Power (800, 980, P10) Platforms preferred.
- Strong skills in installation, configuration, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and production support for application servers, such as Apache web servers/Tomcat and WebSphere.
- Solid working knowledge of Network and Security technology.
- Experience managing UNIX/Linux systems and a general understanding of virtualization technologies.
- Ability to communicate technical problems to non-technical staff.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery solutions experience a plus, along with data replication and high availability.
- Experience in cloud infrastructure management, cloud migrations, and a strong understanding of infrastructure as code is highly desirable.

Pay
Salary Range: $170,000 - $220,000. The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary.
