About the role
The Director, IT Asset Management & Automation will architect and deliver that foundation. This is a hands-on technical leadership role—not a CMDB custodian position. The focus is integration engineering, automation, and data quality across a complex, multi-source ITAM environment. Our primary platform is currently ServiceNow, but we are actively evaluating alternatives; platform-agnostic thinking is essential.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Directly manage three asset management professionals: Software Asset Manager, Hardware Asset Manager (End User), and Hardware Asset Manager (Infrastructure).
- ITAM Integration Architecture & Live Data Pipelines: Design and deliver a federated asset data platform, connect and normalize data from various sources, and build real-time and event-driven integrations.
- Platform Selection & Migration: Evaluate and participate in the current platform selection process, owning the technical migration plan and execution.
- Automation & AI: Automate data collection, enrichment, and reconciliation processes; explore and integrate Cloud FinOps data; drive adoption of automation and AI tooling for IT operations tasks.
- Integration Engineering: Serve as the team's in-house AI thought leader, partner with the organization's automation engineering team, and operate as an integration engineering leader within the broader 60-person I&O organization.
Requirements
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in a technical discipline, including data engineering, automation engineering, cloud engineering, RPA, or infrastructure engineering.
- Technical Skills: Proven experience designing and delivering integrations across heterogeneous enterprise systems, fluency with REST and GraphQL APIs, scripting and automation proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or similar, hands-on experience with cloud-native asset or inventory services, familiarity with SaaS management platforms, endpoint management APIs, and network device ITAM platforms.
- Project Management: Ability to juggle migrations, integration work, and ongoing operations simultaneously without losing momentum.
- Leadership: Influence technical outcomes across peer engineering teams without direct authority, experience presenting technical strategy and program updates to senior executives, and strong business acumen.
Qualifications
- Mid-career orientation: Energetic about building and modernizing, not maintaining the status quo.
- AI & Automation: Experience with AI or LLM-based tooling to reduce manual reconciliation, accelerate discovery, or surface operational insights from asset data, familiarity with agentic AI frameworks and IT operations automation platforms.
- Cloud Exposure: Familiarity with cloud FinOps and experience with configuration management platforms (ServiceNow HAM/SAM/CMDB, Jira Assets, or equivalent).
