Responsibilities
- Champion a client-centric culture focused on deepening client relationships and leveraging broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge to deliver solutions that Scotiabank can provide across its footprint and generate revenue.
- Coordinate with various product groups and industry teams within GBM, develop and maintain effective industry relationships with clients, and play a lead role in originating and sourcing fee-generating opportunities for Scotiabank in partnership with sector, product, and geographic teams across the organization.
- Enhance product capabilities, build global industry specialization in key sectors, and drive growth in new international markets.
- Effectively use knowledge of finance and capital markets to develop effective working relationships with clients and understand and meet client needs.
- Develop client solutions and origination of work, assist the FIG Group with the generation and evaluation of solutions that Scotiabank can provide across its footprint, including originating and executing advisory and/or underwriting transactions as well as supporting corporate banking, GCM, and GBP teams on lending solutions, hedging solutions, and deposits/cash management and payment solutions.
- Assist with the training and development of junior bankers, understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions, and develop more junior bankers on their team and across CIB and GBM through active engagement on developing their skills.
- Manage the end-to-end process for advisory and equity underwriting transactions, ensuring to meet both client needs and regulatory requirements, assist with the training and development of junior bankers, and assist in resource management and prioritization of work to effectively and efficiently utilize team’s time and resources.
- Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

Requirements
9+ years of industry experience, ideally in Investment Banking, capital markets, and/or Mergers & Acquisitions. Bachelors or Masters Degree in Business, Finance, Math, Engineering, Economics, Science, or Technology. Strong understanding of financial markets and sector/product knowledge. Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting, and financial theory. Strong written and verbal communication skills. A high level of attention to detail. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work. The ability to excel under pressure amid demanding deadlines. The ability to perform effectively in a team environment. High professional standards including a strong sense of personal integrity and teamwork. Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new situations. A high level of energy and a keen desire to learn new concepts. Independent thinker and proven ability to make decisions. Obtain and maintain required FINRA registration and licensing appropriate to your functions and responsibilities.
