Director, Internal Controls & Risk Management

About the role

Harry’s is seeking a Director of Internal Controls & Risk Management to lead the design, implementation, and oversight of the company’s internal control framework and risk management processes. This role will partner closely with finance, operations, and technology teams to ensure robust controls, compliance, and risk mitigation across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive internal control framework to safeguard company assets, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support operational efficiency.
• Lead risk assessment initiatives, identifying key risks across business functions and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Oversee SOX compliance, including scoping, testing, and reporting on control effectiveness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and enhance control processes, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor regulatory changes and industry best practices to ensure the company’s control environment remains current and effective.
• Partner with external auditors, providing documentation and support for audit activities.
• Drive a culture of risk awareness and control consciousness through training and communication.
• Report to senior leadership on control deficiencies, risk exposures, and remediation progress.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA, CIA, or CISA certification preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in internal controls, risk management, audit, or compliance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of SOX, COSO, and other internal control frameworks.
• Experience in consumer goods, e-commerce, or retail industries is a plus.
• Proven ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
