Director, Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering

About the role

The Director, Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud infrastructure and services for McKesson Medical-Surgical. Reporting directly to the CTO, this role will oversee the strategic direction of cloud initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader corporate goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of cloud infrastructure and services, including GCP and AWS, for McKesson Medical-Surgical.
• Oversee the migration of existing infrastructure to the cloud, ensuring seamless operation and security.
• Develop and maintain cloud governance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between cloud strategy and business objectives.
• Manage and mentor a team of cloud engineers, driving their growth and development.
• Ensure continuous improvement of cloud operations through automation and best practices.

Requirements

• Proven track record leading large-scale cloud migrations or enterprise infrastructure transformations.
• Direct experience with GCP infrastructure (VPC, Cloud Interconnect, Cloud SQL, Snowflake, Databricks, GKE, Cloud Monitoring).
• Broad infrastructure domain expertise across network engineering, cloud architecture, database management, and storage systems.
• Experience designing and leading migration wave programs across multi-site physical environments.
• Knowledge of ITIL and IT Service Management.
• Proven ability to lead and manage diverse teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Skills

• Network: Expert-level knowledge of network design principles.
• Cloud (GCP): VPC, Shared VPC, Cloud Interconnect, Cloud Router (BGP), Cloud NAT, Cloud DNS, Cloud Armor, VPC Service Controls, Network Intelligence Center, GKE, Cloud Run, Apigee.
• Database & Storage: Deep experience with Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Cloud SQL; familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks and GCP-native data storage patterns; knowledge of database migration strategies.
• Security: Firewall design and policy migration, IAM, encryption, DDoS protection, intrusion detection, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, NIST).
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform for cloud resource provisioning; Git-based infrastructure change management; CI/CD pipeline integration for infrastructure deployments.
• Observability: Cloud Monitoring, VPC Flow Logs, Cloud Trace, network monitoring platforms (SolarWinds, Grafana, or equivalent), ITIL-aligned incident and problem management.
• Emerging Technologies: SD-WAN, IoT device network management, edge computing awareness, container networking (GKE), and service mesh fundamentals.
