Director, Infrastructure Architecture
About The Role
KLDiscovery is hiring a Director of Infrastructure Architecture to set and own the technical architecture across the platforms that host client matters and data — including our Nebula and Relativity environments — and the cloud, storage, network, and security foundations that support them.
This is a net-new leadership role created to bring deliberate, consistent architectural direction to a portfolio of client-platform initiatives — Relativity and Nebula hosting expansion, multi-region client data residency, tenant isolation, customer onboarding at scale, and the disaster-recovery and high-availability architecture behind them — that today are progressing without unified oversight.
The Director will translate business priorities into a coherent target-state architecture, establish the standards and review practices that keep large programs aligned, and lead a team through complex, cross-domain change.
Working closely with infrastructure, security, and engineering leaders, the Director will be the senior technical authority for decisions that span multi-tenant client-hosting architecture, client data residency and sovereignty, hosting region strategy, performance for review and processing workloads, and storage tiering for client matters.
What You Will Do
- Define and own the architecture vision, standards, and roadmap for KLDiscovery's client-hosting platforms — including Nebula and Relativity environments — and the cloud, network, storage, and identity foundations that support them.
- Lead architecture for major client-platform programs, including Nebula and Relativity hosting modernization, client data migrations at scale, multi-region expansion, and storage architecture for client review and processing workloads.
- Own cloud and network architecture strategy for client-facing platforms, including latency and throughput for review applications, ingress and egress for large client data sets, region selection to meet data residency commitments, and the trade-offs between client-hosted and KLD-hosted matters.
- Provide architectural oversight and review gates for cross-functional programs so that major initiatives are designed consistently rather than reactively.
- Partner with the security organization on tenant isolation, client data protection, audit and compliance posture (SOC 2, ISO 27001, and client-specific security requirements), and the DR and business-continuity commitments KLDiscovery makes to clients under contractual SLAs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team, setting technical direction and raising the bar on design quality.
- Advise senior IT, Product, Client Services, and Sales and Solutions Engineering leaders on technology investments, build-versus-buy decisions, and the long-term implications of architecture choices — including what KLDiscovery can credibly sell and commit to clients.
What You Bring
- Ten or more years in IT infrastructure, cloud, or enterprise architecture roles, including several years setting architecture direction for multi-tenant client-hosting environments at scale on Microsoft Azure.
- Deep expertise in infrastructure and storage architecture: enterprise storage platforms and migrations, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), data center design, and network architecture.
- Strong command of cloud and network strategy, including hybrid-cloud design, internet egress and edge/CDN architecture, and the cost and performance trade-offs across hosting models.
- Demonstrated ability to lead architecture across concurrent, cross-functional programs and to establish standards and review practices that scale.
- Experience leading or mentoring technical teams and influencing senior stakeholders without relying on direct authority.
- Demonstrated experience architecting disaster-recovery and business-continuity solutions to meet contractual client SLA commitments for a hosted or SaaS platform.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical trade-offs into clear business terms.
- Nice to have:
- Familiarity with security platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel.
- Experience modernizing ITSM/ticketing platforms or other enterprise IT tooling.
- Relevant architecture certifications (for example TOGAF, or Microsoft/cloud architecture credentials).
