Director, Indirect Tax

About the role

Match Group is a leading provider of dating products across the globe, with brands including Tinder, Hinge, Match, Meetic, PlentyOfFish, OkCupid, The League, HER, and others. The team works together in‑person three days a week to build the best platforms. The Director, Indirect Tax will assist with the preparation, planning, execution, and management of Match Group’s indirect global tax strategy, compliance, and lead ongoing or anticipated tax controversy.

Responsibilities

• Manage US sales and use tax, VAT, and DST for the company and its affiliates, including compliance, research, and business support
• Manage all global indirect tax compliance and reporting by partnering with internal and external stakeholders
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls around key indirect tax processes and systems
• Drive operational excellence across core activities, providing operational insight and implementing process efficiency and technology initiatives
• Act as the subject matter expert supporting business initiatives from an indirect tax perspective
• Proactively monitor and act on global indirect tax developments to ensure compliance with changing laws and regulations

Qualifications

• 10+ years of indirect tax experience (US & VAT) with a deep understanding of indirect tax systems and laws; ideal candidate has a mix of public accounting and in‑house tax experience
• Proficiency in performing technical research and preparing audit‑ready documentation of conclusions
• Understanding and desire to learn and implement AI‑bolstered solutions
• Experience managing people, with demonstrated ability to mentor and develop professional staff and work in a team‑oriented environment
• Highly self‑motivated and directed
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and non‑technical language
• B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance
• Experience with Workday, Vertex, and OneSource (strongly preferred)
