Core Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all imaging departments, ensuring high standards of patient care, safety, and service quality.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate operational policies, procedures, and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee scheduling, staffing, and productivity, ensuring optimal resource utilization across all imaging modalities.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to support clinical needs and growth initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, ACR, FDA, NRC).
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, including capital planning, expense control, and revenue cycle performance.
  • Lead recruitment, retention, development, and evaluation of imaging staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Drive technology advancement by assessing new imaging equipment, PACS/RIS systems, AI tools, and workflow enhancements.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics (quality, patient experience, team engagement, throughput, financials) and implement continuous improvement strategies.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for hospital leadership, regulatory surveyors, vendors, and contracted physician groups.
  • Support patient experience initiatives, ensuring compassionate, safe, and efficient imaging services.

Requirements

  • Required Education & Experience: Bachelor degree in Healthcare or Science Management required, minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in an imaging department, proven track record of budgetary responsibility, operational excellence, staff leadership, regulatory compliance, and imaging technology adoption/implementation.
  • Required Certificates, License Or Registration: Active, unrestricted Radiologic Technologist license issued by the State of Florida, current certification and registration through ARRT or ARDMS or NMTCB, Administrator in Training (AIT) certification (if required by facility/licensure structure), current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills Or Abilities: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage staff, resolve conflicts, and guide change within an imaging department, experience developing and executing performance improvement initiatives and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, effectively partners with medical staff, administration, and multidisciplinary teams, communicates clearly across all levels of the organization, skill in budget creation, cost management, reimbursement models, and driving operational excellence, knowledge of PACS, RIS, EMR, and voice recognition systems, as well as emerging imaging technologies, includes expertise in X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, and understanding of accreditation standards, healthcare regulations, and radiation safety principles, ALARA guidelines, knowledge of ambulatory operations, healthcare regulations, and accreditation requirements.
