Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Six (6) years of experience in teaching and/or administration and supervision in a related specialty.
  • Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
  • Postgraduate educational license with endorsement(s) designated as appropriate to the assignment.
  • Administration and supervision PreK-12 endorsement.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and current trends of school administration.
  • Knowledge of the procedures and practices of the educational specialties in the special education procedural support office.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulations, legislations, and policies.
  • Ability to manage fiscal, physical, and human resources to successfully carry out the function and programs of the office.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology and data compilation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to supervise, evaluate, and lead.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with personnel assigned to schools, other departments, public entities, families, and citizens.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and/or present information to groups, including the School Board.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Major Duties/Essential Functions

  • Leads in the development, management, evaluation, and modification of the multifaceted activities, programs, and special education procedural support projects, including due process and eligibility services and multi-agency services implementing the Children's Services Act.
  • Projects need for, manages, and is accountable for human, physical, and financial resources with the goal of maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the office.
  • Collaborates with and/or supports personnel assigned to schools, other offices, departments, and non-school agencies to accomplish the mission of the office, department, and school division.
  • Plans short- and long-term objectives for office, department, and school division.
  • Leads in the development of strategies for achieving the goals in the Strategic Plan and the monitoring of results for and application to assigned office, and works directly with and is accountable to FCPS leadership.
  • Sponsors divisionwide initiatives and/or projects.
  • Manages risk and matters of compliance related to local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and mandates.
  • Directs the completion of program statistics and ensures the development of appropriate reports, regulations, and related directives for Leadership Team or School Board consideration and action.
  • Leads or facilitates meetings with community groups or employee associations.
  • Represents the Division in facilitating resolution regarding matters of significance, such as student achievement, closing the achievement gap, and state and federal compliance.
  • Meets with, presents to, and/or makes recommendations to high-level officials or School Board.
  • Oversees the work of vendors or contractors.
  • May serve as a primary backup for the assistant superintendent in their absence.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

  • This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Salary Range

  • $142,292 - $218,630

School Year 2026-2027 Contract Length

  • 260-Day Contract
