Director I, Production

About the role

The Technical Director coordinates the efforts of all technical operators during newscasts and other live and recorded productions. They act as a liaison between engineering and production departments and work with producers to deliver clean, high-energy newscasts.

Responsibilities include live switching, graphics, audio, video playback, and camera operation in an automated control room, as well as testing equipment to ensure proper operation.

• Collaborate with producers to deliver high-energy newscasts
• Perform live switching, graphics, audio, video playback, and camera operation in an automated control room
• Test equipment to ensure proper operation
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills

• High school diploma
• Fluency in English
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Minimum two years’ experience in news operations and production (requirements may vary by market size)
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment
• Proficiency with broadcast control equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
