About the Role
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Director of Human Resources to join our HR leadership team, supporting the Airborne Multifunction Sensors (AMS) Division in a functional-facing leadership role. The selected candidate will serve as the primary strategic HR partner for the Baltimore and Partnered Sites (BaPS) Engineering & Sciences (E&S) organization within Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector. This role leads a team of HR business partners supporting over 4,500 employees across six locations.
We seek a proven human resources leader capable of coaching and influencing at the executive level, developing and deploying human capital and technical development strategies. The ideal candidate will have strong relationship-building skills and a track record of driving change in complex, matrixed environments within the aerospace and defense industry.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the broader BaPS E&S talent strategy, leveraging tools, resources, and teams to drive business outcomes.
- Lead a team of HR professionals by providing guidance, coaching, and support to optimize performance and potential.
- Partner with the BaPS E&S Vice President and engineering leadership to address near- and long-term talent needs.
- Collaborate with the Sector E&S and BaPS organizations to ensure alignment for leaders, employees, and HR teams.
- Communicate and partner with internal and external stakeholders to influence and guide engineering and technical talent teams.
- Analyze critical skills and supply/demand trends to inform talent deployment and development actions.
- Use data insights to identify business challenges and proactively influence leadership in strategizing solutions.
- Strengthen technical talent capabilities and pipeline through talent management and succession planning.
- Drive talent strategy, talent management, succession planning, change management, leadership development, staffing, employee engagement, compensation oversight, and employee relations.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of professional HR experience, including people management, or a Master’s degree with 8+ years of equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in workforce strategy implementation across large organizations.
- Experience leading mid-to-large teams to drive business and functional outcomes.
- Ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and implement innovative solutions.
- Strong change management, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
- Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional projects while measuring ROI and business impact.

- Experience supporting executive-level leadership.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top-Secret security clearance (required for continued employment).
Preferred Qualifications
- Active U.S. Government Top-Secret security clearance.
- Experience in Aerospace & Defense or government contracting.
- Experience working in a matrixed environment.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and emerging HR technology trends.
Pay
Primary salary range: $177,000 – $265,400. Base salary offers consider scope, responsibilities, and candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differentials, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives (for VP/Director roles), and benefits including health insurance, life/disability insurance, a savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
