Director, HR
About the role
Manage and coach the HR team and advise managers and executives on complex personnel issues and conflict resolution.
Lead the execution and continuous improvement of talent, engagement, and development programs that support organizational growth and culture.
Partner with the Digital Leadership Team, Division/Department Leaders, and Finance in an agile environment to provide strategic input on hiring roadmaps, compensation philosophy, and org design.
Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle. Build a strong employer brand to attract top talent globally and use data-driven processes to reduce bias.
Drive engagement and retention through strong performance management, feedback loops, and career development (L&D) pathways.
Build and maintain the HR tech stack (HRIS, ATS, Payroll) to automate administrative work, ensure data accuracy, and scale People workflows.
Design competitive, market-aligned compensation and benefits packages (equity, remote perks) across geographies; support budgeting and forecasting for these programs.
Enforce and collaborate with the VP of HR to set HR policy across multi-state and global operations, including employment law, worker classification, and risk assessment.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years of experience in HR or People Operations, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Preferred experience in tech.
- Skilled in managing a distributed workforce; strong grasp of US employment law and familiarity with international hiring via EOR models (e.g., Deel) and Canada is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience designing performance cycles (e.g. OKRs, 360 reviews) and handling employee relations with both empathy and firmness.
- Extensive experience with modern HR tools and using people data to inform decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical for sustaining culture and transparency in a remote-first org.
- High emotional intelligence, with a track record as a confidant to employees and a strategic advisor to executive leadership.
- Comfortable operating at every level of the organization, from strategic planning to hands-on execution.
