Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement portfolio strategies for Hepatology/Immunology medicines in partnership with global counterparts, as well as U.S.-specific initiatives as needed, taking into account multiple customer specialties, multiple indications — including opportunities for indication expansion and lifecycle extension — and the need for flexible, market-responsive objectives.
- Create market maps for the current and future Hepatology/Immunology portfolio, considering customer and patient needs, MOA assumptions, method of administration, financial impacts, and the evolving healthcare landscape, working seamlessly with stakeholders in Sales, Insights & Analytics, Finance, Medical, Market Access, and GPS.
- Identify trends in current Hepatology/Immunology brand performance, key specialty customers, and competitors to shape business insights that inform current strategies and GPS.
- Lead U.S. portfolio and lifecycle strategy across in-line and pipeline Hepatology/Immunology assets, ensuring alignment with brand strategy, commercial objectives, and medical priorities and informing resource allocation and investment choices.
- Craft the U.S. insights for Hepatology/Immunology disease states, competitors and specialties, support U.S. leadership representation at LOC and Global committees, and serve as a single point of accountability and voice of the U.S. customer and commercial interests for Hepatology/Immunology assets at early stage-gates.
Pipeline Strategy and Product Development
- Develop and deliver U.S. market analyses and insights for the Hepatology/Immunology pipeline in partnership with the cross-functional New Products team.
- Translate U.S. customer perspectives (HCPs, patients, payers) into clinical trial and health outcome needs to inform clinical development plans and financial valuations for Hepatology/Immunology assets.
- Establish and ensure delivery of U.S.-specific insights and market assumptions for each Hepatology/Immunology medicine from Phase 2 through LOC activation, approximately 18–24 months prior to launch.
- Lead disease and product strategies for external stakeholders (HCPs, patients, payers) for early-stage Hepatology/Immunology assets.
- Develop and maintain a long-range portfolio vision for Hepatology/Immunology, including asset prioritization, resourcing implications, and strategic planning to support future pipeline opportunities.
Insights, Analytics, and Market Understanding
- Develop and leverage analytic approaches to understand U.S. customer needs in partnership with Insights & Analytics and Forecasting.
- Provide direction and guidance for market research, competitive intelligence, and quantitative/qualitative analyses for market characterization and customer segmentation.
- Ensure adequate expert input and review of key commercial assessments of the future Hepatology/Immunology therapeutic landscape, including deep insights into patients, customers, marketplace, competitors, and business drivers.
- Translate commercial and environmental assessments into forward-looking insights on how patient, marketplace, and customer needs may evolve over time.
- Maintain understanding of current and future market trends for reimbursement to provide continuously improving perspective for market access inputs.
Governance, Decision Support, and Business Partnership
- Lead asset reviews for Hepatology/Immunology medicines and deliver aligned recommendations for the U.S. Pharma President, Business Unit Leads, Managed Markets Leads, and Medical Leads in preparation for global governance meetings (e.g., Forecast Review Committee (FRC) and Portfolio Investment Board (PIB)).
- Communicate and educate Global and R&D stakeholders regarding the changing landscape of the U.S. pharmaceutical market and its implications for the Hepatology/Immunology portfolio and pipeline.
- Evaluate business development opportunities relevant to the U.S. Hepatology/Immunology portfolio and provide recommendations based on Business Unit strategy.
Market Access, Evidence, and Value Story
- Partner with U.S. Health Outcomes and Medical Affairs to develop clinical, health outcomes, and/or economic evidence to support customer needs and initial brand value positioning for Hepatology/Immunology medicines.
- Ensure early and ongoing integration of payer perspectives and access considerations into clinical development and lifecycle plans for Hepatology/Immunology assets.
Go-to-Market Models and Financial / Operational Management
- Lead assessment of innovative go-to-market models for Hepatology/Immunology medicines to provide differentiated approaches to optimizing the P&L.
- Develop and own the budget for insights work, including primary and secondary analyses, supporting Hepatology/Immunology portfolio and pipeline decisions.
- Collaborate with Forecasting & Finance to ensure an accurate outlook for U.S. Hepatology/Immunology launches and to identify additional value opportunities across the portfolio.
Cross-Functional Leadership and Collaboration
- Collaborate with senior leaders across U.S. business units, Global Therapy Areas, Therapy Area Research Leaders, Medical Development Leads, Forecasting & Finance, Health Outcomes, and Business Development to ensure an accurate outlook for U.S. launches and identify additional value opportunities.
- Work seamlessly across key stakeholders in Sales, Insights & Analytics, Finance, Medical, and GPS to align on portfolio and pipeline priorities and ensure pull-through of strategic decisions.
- Partner effectively with medical, legal, compliance, regulatory, and marketing teams as needed for Hepatology/Immunology initiatives.
