Director, Gas Control
About the role
The Director, Gas Control oversees the operation of the Company’s Gas Control room, ensuring all activities comply with federal and state regulatory requirements, particularly 49 CFR 192.631 Control Room Management. They coordinate with LNG and LPG Operations to meet customer needs for supplemental gas, aligning with the physical design limitations and contracts negotiated by Energy Supply. They collaborate with Instrumentation & Regulation (I&R) leadership to ensure safe, compliant, and effective operations.
Responsibilities
- Leads Gas Control's oversight of the gas distribution system ensuring activities are performed in accordance with federal and state regulatory requirements, specifically 49 CFR 192.631 Control Room Management.
- Collaborates with LNG and LPG Operations to lead Gas Control in meeting customer needs for supplemental gas as required, in a manner fully supportive of the LNG/LPG plants physical design limitations and the contracts negotiated by Energy Supply.
- Oversees the safe, compliant, and effective Gas Control remote operation of the Eversource LPG plants while coordinating with LNG/LPG Operations.
- Collaborates with Engineering and I&R in the development and continuous improvement of compliant standard telemetry devices and installations, emphasizing technology improvements and cost-effective decisions.
- Develops a vision and execution strategy for the adoption of API RP 1173 within the control room environment, ensuring it complements the requirements of 49 CFR 192.631.
- Creates meaningful tracking and reporting of productivity and efficiency within the Gas Control department.
- Manages, balances, and coordinates external and internal resources required to meet short- and long-term objectives and performance goals.
- Establishes and monitors goals, policies, plans, standards, performance objectives, and budget for Gas Control to ensure alignment with both the Gas Organization and corporate goals.
- Collaborates with other Gas Operations Directors in gas curtailment planning, integrated planning, supply planning, and emergencies.
- Ensures compliance with Transportation Security Administration security directives for both physical and cyber security, monitoring and reporting as needed for ongoing compliance.
- Develops a robust, consistent, and fully integrated framework of work practices for Gas Control, ensuring operational excellence and best-in-class processes.
- Oversees the development of area staff, ensuring accountability of direct reports and fostering a mindset of ownership and employee accountability.
- Drives and leads changes within the team related to internal structure, staffing, schedules, work locations, and other changes needed to improve or align the operation of Gas Control with the Gas Business.
Qualifications
- Requires thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to Control Room Management.
- Knowledge of natural gas distribution operations is a plus.
- Requires working knowledge of information technology and the use of the Company’s Gas Business office automation and information systems.
- Strong administrative, communication, and leadership skills are essential.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, applied science, related discipline, or equivalent experience is required.
- A Master’s Degree or MBA is preferred.
- Minimum of twelve (12) years gas distribution, utility, or technical experience is required.

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. Salary is commensurate with your experience. This position is eligible for a potential incentive. The annual salary range for this position is: $179,030.00 - $198,920.00.

Schedule
Work is performed primarily in an office environment but does require some time in the field to resolve complex problems and keep up to date with the operation.
