Director Food and Beverage, West Region
Job Overview
The Director of Food and Beverage-West Region provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for food and beverage programs across managed communities throughout the region. This role partners with association boards, developers, and on-site management teams to enhance resident experiences, improve operational efficiency, drive revenue growth and profitability, and ensure financial accountability.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership support and operating expertise in food and beverage (F&B) as a value-added service to managed communities across the region
- Drive increase in additional F&B revenue, Profits and Loss (P&L) accountability to operating budgets through financial reporting and F&B operations
- Create implementation plans to support the execution of F&B programs, products, pricing and menu changes in conjunction with the association board, developer and management teams
- Conduct evaluations and present recommendations, strategic options and business plans to associations in the areas of F&B
- Aid in talent needs of F&B teams including recruitment and development
- Manage F&B teams to maximize profitability and develop a service culture
- Practice and adhere to FirstService Residential Global Service Standards
- Always conduct business with the highest standards of personal, professional and ethical conduct
- May participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies and regulatory guidelines
- Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing the work
- Follow all policies and Standard Operating Procedures as instructed by Management
- Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in F&B Management or similar 4-year degree
- Ten (10) years progressive leadership responsibility
- Strong financial skills for budgeting, monitoring food and beverage financial performance
- Strong understanding of bar operations, casual and upscale dining and kitchen procedures
- Ability to work on site and cover vacancies in the restaurant for extended periods of time until a suitable replacement is hired and on-boarded
- Strong leadership, teaching, diagnostic and analytic skills
- Results oriented; working within approved budget; conserves company resources; knows the goals of the company
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Active listener who can anticipate issues and drive for mutually satisfactory resolution
- Service-oriented mindset, with multi-tasking abilities and a flexible, resilient attitude
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
- Must be able to lift 25lbs
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to communicate both on the phone and in person with our clients in order to resolve issues and manage the business
- Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard
- Must be mobile enough to move around both the office in order to make copies, send mail and faxes and to walk around the property
- The work environment characteristics are normal office conditions
- Consistent and regular attendance required
- Hours over and above normal office hours will occur, including evenings and some weekends
- Schedule is subject to change based on business needs
Tools and Equipment Used
- Valid Driver’s License and State Mandated Vehicle Insurance required
- Computer and peripherals, standard and customized software applications and tools, and usual office equipment
Travel
- 75% travel required as well as some nights and weekends based on property events
