The Director of Engineering will oversee all engineering aspects to ensure innovative products meet requirements in a cost-effective, timely, and safe manner. This role provides strategic leadership to improve product quality, reduce costs, and implement technical innovation.
- Develop and implement strategies and procedures to improve engineering processes.
- Develop measurable goals in alignment with Ebner Group goals and drive accountability for achieving targets.
- Develop resource plans based on project workload, development needs, and Sales & Marketing forecasts.
- Communicate with engineering managers and program managers on program planning, staffing, execution, and status. Help develop strategies for programs not executing to schedule and budget.
- Provide updates to the Managing Director of Engineering & Manufacturing on issues related to personnel, program execution, development opportunities, and customer issues.
- Prepare and review annual department operating, capital, and salary budgets and forecasts.
- Lead, coach, and develop engineering leaders and teams to foster a high-performance culture based on accountability and empowerment.
- Remove roadblocks that hinder teams or individuals from executing programs.
- Identify and coordinate continued education and training.
- Develop and implement recommendations to improve the technology of continuous casting.
- Interact with customers to ensure documented requirements are met.
10+ years of progressive experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of managing complex projects.
Ability to attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and mentor engineering staff to achieve goals.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement creative solutions to problems and work toward continuous improvement.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with project planning and execution.
Financial acumen and experience managing large budgets.
The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or related field (required), master’s degree or MBA (preferred).
Duties will be carried out in an office environment, manufacturing production floor, and at customer and supplier sites as required, which might include occasional exposure to fumes, noise, and gases from equipment or machinery. The employee must utilize personal safety equipment when working on the production floor. Travel to attend meetings and visit customers is required.

At Hazelett, you will work for a company recognized worldwide for leading metals processing technology. Our continuous casting process is renowned for high productivity and energy efficiency. Materials produced by our machines are used in various applications such as aluminum automotive body components, aluminum foil, lead-acid automotive batteries, and copper wire and cables.
The base pay range for this full-time position is $140,000–$150,000. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, our ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
