Director, Due Diligence & Remediation
About the role
The Vertex Companies, LLC (VERTEX) is seeking a Director to manage our regional remediation and regulatory compliance group in the New Jersey and New York City markets. The ideal candidate will have strong engineering, technical, and business development skills.
Responsibilities
Manage projects to meet milestones, budget, deadlines, regulatory requirements, client needs, or other performance indicators.
Manage all aspects of the project life cycle: planning, scope definition, budgeting, coordination, execution, and delivery.
Participate in Account Management and Business Development programs to engage with clients and procure work.
Coach and manage teams of consultants who perform regulatory compliance and remediation services.
Engineer and implement in-situ remediation of impacted soil and groundwater, as well as vapor mitigation systems.
Oversee and provide technical review of investigation and remediation projects in the region.
Prepare NJDEP, NYSDEC, and NYCDEP project deliverables.
Support assigned MD in meeting or exceeding the defined annual budget for the entire practice area/practice division.
Support development of new accounts and retain and expand existing engagements within the practice area to achieve sales goals.
Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of direct reports focused on attracting, placing, and growing the assigned practice team members.
Lead team of assigned staff members to establish and drive towards defined objectives and key results (OKRs).
Ensure compliance of operations with all local, state, and federal (and international, if applicable) regulations, as well as compliance with company policy.
Ensure consistent high quality on deliverables for the practice.
Qualifications & Competencies
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 12 years of related experience or a Master's degree and 8 years of related experience, and at least 5 years in management capacity.
PE in New York and/or New Jersey is required. Willingness to obtain PE licenses in other states.
Technical proficiency in environmental consulting services, including conducting and leading client facing remediation and environmental compliance projects.
Direct experience designing and implementing the in-situ remediation of impacted soil and groundwater, as well as vapor intrusion mitigation.
Direct experience managing projects in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) and Spills Program; and the New York City Office of Environmental Remediation (NYCOER) E-Designation and Voluntary Cleanup Programs.
Working knowledge and applicability of the NYSDEC BCP and Spills Program regulations; the NYCOER E-Designation and Voluntary Cleanup Programs; the New Jersey Technical Requirements for Site Remediation and the Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA).
Ability/willingness for regional travel with some national travel for client work and events.
