DIRECTOR, DINING SERVICES - Shelbyville Schools, IN

Job Summary

Shelbyville Schools District, located in Shelbyville, IN, serves approximately 3,900 students across five schools. This Director of Dining Services role provides leadership for the district's child nutrition program, overseeing daily operations, financial performance, food quality, and customer satisfaction. The Director will lead and support a team of 37 frontline associates while partnering with and overseeing two salaried managers to ensure efficient operations and an exceptional dining experience for students and staff.

We are seeking a strong K-12 foodservice leader with proven management experience, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for innovation. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can effectively manage people, programs, and budgets while building strong relationships with district stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and inspire our team of 37 frontline associates and 2 salaried managers.
• Drive strategic initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and increase profitability.
• Recruit, train, and develop top talent within the organization.
• Own the annual budget and control costs optimally.
• Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Build strong relationships with clients, customers, and associates.

Preferred Qualifications

• A's degree in Nutrition/Management/Hospitality/Culinary preferred or equivalent experience.
• K-12 food service management experience.
• Three plus years of foodservice management experience.
• Strong knowledge of high-volume food production and catering trends is preferred.
• Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed services experience.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer skills.

Pay

$80,000 - $90,000
