Director, Development (Data Center Construction)

About the role

The Director, Development (Data Center Construction) role at QTS Data Centers requires strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. This position functions as the point of contact for new client builds and implementations, liaising between the QTS Sales Team, Operations Team, Property Development Team, and Customers. The PSCM works closely with existing Development Construction Project Managers to ensure customer needs are met to high standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage the customer deployment project delivery for each sold deal within each QTS location
• Coordinate with the QTS Property Development team and supporting specialty consultants to support customer's design needs, pricing, customer approvals, and implementation of specific deployment scopes
• Deliver projects that align clients' objectives, business processes, vendor management strategies, and cross-group collaboration efforts across the QTS organization
• Drive effective client relationship management and efficient cost management, with the goal of delivering the project on time and on budget
• Serve as a single contact for Federal sales support on potential secured deals

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and/or professional licenses in Construction Management or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Architecture
• Ten or more years of progressive responsibility in development of Mission Critical Facilities
• Five or more years of responsibility of data center project construction with large-scale data centers or DC lease providers
• Ability to travel as needed for the business

Qualifications

• Experience managing multiple large, multi-faceted projects
• Construction Health & Safety Knowledge
• Experience with Customer Deployment Technologies and Equipment, RCDD a plus
• Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills
• Ability to independently manage deadlines and support staff
• Influence cross-discipline teams
• Flexible and adaptable to changing situations at a high-growth company
