Responsibilities
- Oversee the corporate underwriting audit framework across the organization, establishing standards, methodologies, reporting expectations, and governance processes to ensure consistent execution across business divisions.
- Help establish consistent approaches to underwriting risk assessment, audit methodology, and exception governance across the organization.
- Identify, quantify, and manage risks to the organization; engage with a variety of specialist teams and senior leadership to develop and implement risk management strategies.
- Support and enhance C&F’s enterprise risk management frameworks, tools, and reporting capabilities across specialty and commercial insurance operations.
- Oversee the development, validation, and ongoing enhancement of exception reporting, including identifying opportunities for automation and improved reporting efficiency.
- Assist in setting corporate tolerances around aggregations of exposures; monitor reporting of these metrics to ensure corporate tolerances are not breached.
- Develop knowledge of C&F’s various business units and products.
- Keep up to date with developing trends and emerging risks; evaluate the potential impact of these risks to the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management/Insurance, Mathematics, Finance or related field or equivalent experiences.
- 10+ years of commercial insurance experience required.
- Direct underwriting and/or home office underwriting experience required.
- Strong understanding of commercial underwriting principles, underwriting authority frameworks, and portfolio risk management concepts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and influence stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization.
Qualifications
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, AU, or similar are a plus.

Pay
The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $122,500.00 to a maximum of $179,600.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee's contribution (performance) in that role.
