Director, Corporate Accounting
Position Summary
This position is responsible for the accounting and finance operations of the organization including financial close, financial consolidation and internal reporting, accounting policy and procedures, and financial systems.
Essential Functions
Lead the accounting function and teams with a continuous focus on improving policies, processes, procedures, and systems
Manage the month-end close process including entity consolidations, corporate entries, and the finalization of a monthly trial balance
Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with US GAAP
Interpret and analyze monthly/quarterly/annual results
Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
Review and approve financial statements to ensure accuracy of financial information and compliance with US GAAP
Review and approve account reconciliations (quarterly, at a minimum)
Review and approve monthly account fluctuation explanations
Oversee and coordinate the activities of the external auditors to ensure successful completion of annual financial audit
Participate in the development of the Company’s strategic and financial planning activities with senior management, including the evaluation and impact of new initiatives and regulatory developments on the business
Represent the accounting function in acquisition analysis and acquisition integration
Participate in ongoing organizational and individual development within the accounting organization to be able to transform and adapt the accounting organization to the Company’s changing business needs and strategies
Builds and enhances a strong accounting team that provides proactive support and results-driven execution of responsibilities to meet the current and future needs of the business
Manages and coaches employees to facilitate engagement and professional development
Continually strives to develop talent within the accounting organization to promote individual development
Aligns and activates resources to resolve issues and/or take advantage of opportunities arising from organizational change
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Certified Public Accounting (CPA) designation preferred
8+ years of accounting experience, with experience in a corporate controller role
Excellent management and leadership skills; able to build effective teams; demonstrated ability to coach and develop team members
Critical thinking and analytical skills, including the capacity to identify, assess and prioritize competing interests and needs
Skills and ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing to convey complex concepts clearly and logically
Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate discretion
Ability to strategically execute within a fast-paced, deadline-oriented and complex environment
