About the role

The role of Director, Strategic Contracts, provides industry specific expertise and strategic and tactical direction in the development, negotiation, management, and administration of complex and highly visible supplier contract negotiations for Fidelity's Procurement organization.

Responsibilities

  • Helps lead collaboration and partnership with business unit partners, legal, risk, compliance, and other operational subject matter experts across the organization to minimize risk and optimize value to Fidelity.
  • Helps business partners understand and navigate complex contracting models and contract negotiations.
  • Counsels Fidelity leaders on contract and risk decisions.
  • Fulfills business partner needs quickly, effectively, and in the best interest of the firm.
  • Become a trusted advisor to business partners.
  • Influence business stakeholders and senior executives through fact-based decision support.
  • Work well under pressure and manage key business partner relationships.
  • Handle ambiguity and make decisions with confidence.
  • Provide contract analysis and a point-of-view for decision support.
  • Provide recommendations, modifications, and process improvement opportunities to the Procurement organization.
  • Provide thought leadership with business partners.
  • Respond to shifting priorities while maintaining progress of regularly scheduled work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; JD strongly preferred.
  • 8-10 years of equivalent experience of advanced legal studies or purchasing, including complex contract negotiations.
  • Proactive management and development of key business partner relationships.
  • Solid understanding of complex contracting models and the ability to negotiate and provide guidance across both standard and non-standard contracts.
  • Ability to influence business stakeholders and senior executives through fact-based decision support.
  • Experience working with leaders at all levels, from project managers to the C-Suite.
  • Comfortable making decisions and taking smart risks.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong relationship management capabilities that will get you a seat at the leadership table of our key business stakeholders (ex. Legal, Insurance, Compliance, Vendor Management Oversight).
  • Commitment to drive quality and process improvements.
