About the Role

This role influences executive-level decisions regarding content strategies and user experience, establishing the overall business strategy for content design. We’re seeking a content design leader who thinks in systems and can shape how customers understand and navigate our products. You’ll lead the strategy for product voice, language, terminology, and information architecture across experiences, creating a coherent system rather than optimizing one screen at a time. As a people leader, you’ll grow a high-performing content design team, set a strong bar for craft, and help content designers focus their work where it can have the greatest customer and business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and articulate clear functional strategy and objectives in alignment with content and design strategy, enhancing user experience within digital products and applications.
  • Negotiate with and influence decision-making at the senior executive level.
  • Identify and resolve unique situations of substantial significance in the field of content design expertise or knowledge.
  • Allocate resources responsibly and apply creativity to problem analysis and resolution in complicated and/or novel situations.
  • Provide support, coaching, and guidance to others, mentoring less-experienced roles to exemplify innovation, excellence, and day-to-day learning.
  • Define and evolve a systems-level content design strategy spanning product voice, terminology, hierarchy, information architecture, and interaction patterns.
  • Build and maintain scalable content infrastructure, including standards, a shared lexicon, reusable patterns, and governance models.
  • Establish frameworks that enable product teams to create clear, consistent, on-brand experiences without requiring direct content design support for every decision.
  • Partner with Design, Research, Product, Engineering, Legal, and Localization to translate complex or ambiguous business problems into clear content and experience decisions.
  • Make language and structural tradeoffs visible, particularly when customer needs, business objectives, regulatory considerations, and technical constraints intersect.
  • Lead content design critique and establish expectations for quality, consistency, accessibility, and customer comprehension.
  • Manage, coach, and grow a team of content designers, aligning talent to areas where content design can create the greatest leverage.
  • Identify systemic content issues across the customer journey and influence product strategy beyond individual features or surfaces.
  • Measure success through improvements in product coherence, customer understanding, team effectiveness, and the ability to scale high-quality content practices.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree, OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience leading product content design, UX writing, content strategy, or a closely related discipline for complex digital products.
  • Demonstrated experience building content systems, standards, frameworks, or teams rather than solely operating within established ones.
  • Strong understanding of information architecture, interaction design, terminology systems, and scalable content patterns.
  • Experience managing and developing content designers and establishing strong craft practices across a team.
  • Ability to influence senior cross-functional partners and navigate competing product, customer, technical, legal, and business considerations.
  • Experience working across large, interconnected product ecosystems where consistency and governance are critical.
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to move between detailed language decisions and broader product and organizational strategy.
  • Experience in FinTech, financial services, payments, or another complex or regulated product environment is preferred.
