Director, Consumer Center of Excellence

About the role

The Compliance & Ethics (C&E) team is looking for a Director to lead key initiatives within the Compliance Fair and Responsible Banking (FRB) team. The role involves enhancing the existing governance and oversight of the Compliance Management Program (CMP) to ensure Capital One effectively manages compliance risk.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the effective design and delivery of specific initiatives to enhance the existing Compliance Management Program
• Collaborate with stakeholders such as General Compliance Advisory & Testing, Enterprise Risk Management, other IRM groups, Audit, business risk offices, and front-line process owners to improve governance practices
• Leverage data and analytics to inform outcomes and proactively identify areas for improvement
• Work with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives
• Anticipate, identify, and escalate issues early and propose potential solutions
• Drive program alignment in a complex, regulated environment
• Develop and manage risk management-focused project plans in a dynamic environment

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
• At least 8 years of experience in compliance, risk management, legal, or audit
• At least 5 years of process, project, or program management experience
• At least 4 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or Juris Doctor
• Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or Certified Enterprise Risk Professional (CERP)
• 7+ years of experience in financial services
• Expertise in consumer protection laws (e.g., FCRA, SCRA)

Benefits

This role is eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.

Pay

Salaries for this role vary by location:

• Chicago, IL: $187,300 - $213,700 for Director, Compliance
• Mclean, VA: $206,000 - $235,100 for Director, Compliance
• Richmond, VA: $187,300 - $213,700 for Director, Compliance
• Riverwoods, IL: $187,300 - $213,700 for Director, Compliance

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
